The USF Institute for School-Community Partnerships – HCPS Volunteering Initiative

The USF Institute for School-Community Partnerships – HCPS Volunteering Initiative is a collaboration between the University of South Florida’s College of Education, the Hillsborough County Public School district’s community school department, and the student organization formed around the East Coast STEM Magazine. Recognizing that a large number of community schools within HCPS are faced with multiple challenges in delivering quality, sustained STEM education to their students, the East Coast STEM Magazine members involved undergraduate students at USF and initiated a procedure by which students can volunteer by signing up through the Institute for School-Community Partnerships, be paired up with faculty mentors, assigned appropriate roles at target community schools, and qualify under the federal work-study program.
